Launch Event 10th May 2011
A lot of useful conversations took place and a lot of this was because the group set the agenda with regards to what was important to them.
Lots came out of yesterday, but we think some of the key themes that emerged included:
- A genuine enthusiasm for continuing to find ways to work together to make this work
- Recognition of the fact that for Personalisation to work, it needs to be a joint effort between service providers, people who use services, their support networks, Adult Social Care (particularly social workers) and others with something to offer (you might call this approach co-production)
- There are real barriers in place at the moment which are stopping the system from working for the benefit of people in Bradford. This makes it difficult for people to set up services, and means fewer people than we would like are accessing Individual Accounts. There is enthusiasm for looking at the system (in particular the “customer journey” to see how it could be made to work better.
- There is a lack of engagement from some senior people at the Council with regards to involving the third sector in making Personalisation work. We need to find ways to ensure that key decision makers know what Network members are doing, and involve them in what we do.

What next?
This is really up to you. We have set up a Google group it is pretty easy to use (you’ll need a Google account – but that’s easy to set up). Once you’ve joined you can contact everyone in the group by sending an email to personalisation-made-in-bradford@googlegroups.com
| Subscribe to Personalisation Made in Bradford |

| Visit this group |
We’d suggest you join the group, and then if you want to get a few people together, send a message to the group and see what happens.
We acknowledge that in an ideal world there’d be some support for what we want to do with the network. But, given that there isn’t, let’s try and do what we can to keep things moving with regards to Personalisation in Bradford.
